On 11 November 2018, a plaque was unveiled at Skateraw to mark the site of a First World War landing ground. East Lammermuir Community Council and the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust had invited residents to gather at Skateraw car park for the occasion.
During the war, No. 77 Squadron could use the field for its home defence fighters. The plaque stands beside the public car park north of the hamlet. The Skateraw memorial is listed among the projects supported in the November 2018 Crystal Rig funding round.
See photographs of the plaque and read the Trust’s airfield history. The Crystal Rig awards history records the community funding.
