SP Energy Networks’ EGL1 project have issued the following update:

Further to the earlier updates, the path will be open from Tues 16th noon, with a banksman during working hours, 7am -7pm.

New path opening times – w/c 15 June

We are pleased to let you know that the path between the A1 and Skateraw will now be able to safely remain open to the public thanks to the introduction of an onsite banksman.

As you know, we always strive to keep this route accessible to the community whenever possible without compromising public safety. Please see the key details of the reopening below:

• Opening time: The path is officially open from 12.00 midday, Tuesday 16 June, and will remain open until further notice (including evenings, overnight, and weekends).
• Onsite safety: The banksman will be stationed onsite during working hours (7.00am – 7.00pm, Monday to Sunday) to safely guide vehicles and heavy machinery during intermittent path crossings.

East Lothian Council Access Officer has confirmed this is Public Right of Way and has been actively challenging this path closure.

Please note: safety measures have not been put in place for crossing the A1 itself, you do so at your own risk.
