In late August, East Lammermuir Community Council, and other members of the NnG Community Fund* Panel, welcomed Rachel Searle and Niome Lucjan from Foundation Scotland’s Communities team to led a session on ‘Distributing Differently’.

‘Distributing Differently’ is Foundation Scotland’s term for the range of funding approaches that sit alongside, or move beyond, the traditional reactive open grant approach that is the more common way to distribute funding.  This would usually be local groups asking for an amount of money for equipment, for an event or help with a building project.

It has emerged from Foundation Scotland’s work with communities involved with benefit funds when reactive applications alone aren’t meeting identified community needs or ambitions. In East Lammermuir, the NnG funding is being focused on activities to achieve the 4 community priorities taken from the Local Place Plan 2024-2034.

Learning from the session should help inform a wider funding strategy that the Panel plan to develop later this year.
