SPRINGFIELD SOLAR & BESS – Consultation events

The public is able to make comment on additional information on Voltalia’s Springfield application up until 30 October 2026 at events organised by the Lammermuir Alliance.

“Who are the Lammermuir Alliance?

The Lammermuir Alliance is a coalition of Oldhamstocks Community Association, East Lammermuir Community Council, Cockburnspath and Cove Community Council, and Save Our Rural East Lammermuir Landscape (SORELL).

The Alliance has come together to oppose the proposed Springfield Solar Farm and BESS at the Local Public Inquiry, and to help ensure that the concerns and interests of local communities are represented throughout the inquiry process.

The Alliance would like to make local residents aware that additional environmental information has now been submitted in connection with Voltalia UK Ltd’s proposed Springfield Solar Farm.

The proposal includes:

  • Up to approximately 165 MW of solar PV generation
  • Up to approximately 80 MW of Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
  • Associated infrastructure, access and landscaping

The newly submitted information considers the cumulative effects of the development alongside:

  • the proposed Springfield Collector substation within the site; and
  • the proposed transmission connection between the Springfield Collector and Branxton Substation, around 1km to the north-west.”

This is a reminder that you can still view the documents and prepare a response at two locations:

The information can also be accessed online at the DPEA Planning Appeals website (NB it also has 4 appendices) at the DPEA link below: see published items 28 September 2026

Representations should:

  • quote reference BES–210-1
  • be submitted by email to claire.murray2@gov.scot or by post to Environmental Appeals Division, Hadrian House, Business park, Calendar Road, FKI IXR.

In-person assistance sessions have now passed.
