Community benefits

Community benefits are voluntary funding, and other contributions support, associated with major energy developments that are intended to benefit local communities. Community Benefits Funds are the most common form of provision.

Different funds have different purposes, decision-making arrangements and application processes, so potential applicants should always check the current information for each particular fund, and talk to our Local Place Plan Officer to discuss the best fund(s) to approach. You can do this by emailing funding@elcc.scot. Currently, there are Crystal Rig, NnG and EGL1 funds.

Have an idea that could benefit East Lammermuir?

“Talk to ELCC before making a funding application. You do not need to understand the funding system or choose a fund first. We can help you explore where your idea fits and which funding route may be appropriate.” Sue Guy LPP Officer

ELCC, the Community Benefit Trust & Fund

East Lammermuir Community Council ELCC, the East Lammermuir Community Benefit Trust, and the East Lammermuir Community Fund are three separate organisations.

ELCC represents the local community and has a role in setting priorities or providing the first point of contact for some funds.

ELCB Trust enables its Trustees to action charitable works within the East Lammermuir area. The ELCB Fund provides information about locally relevant community benefit funds (mainly from the Crystal Rig windfarm).

Other community benefits are managed for East Lammermuir by organisations such as Foundation Scotland and Localgiving. Application and decision arrangements vary between the funds. The organisation responsible for each fund maintains its own detailed criteria and process.

Before applying

Groups interested in NnG funding must contact ELCC and receive initial approval for their proposal before proceeding through Foundation Scotland’s formal application process.

Please do not complete the Foundation Scotland application form as your first step. ELCC will first discuss your proposal and confirm whether it can proceed to formal application.

EGL1 Funding is managed by Foundation Scotland and Localgiving

First step: contact ELCC — funding@elcc.scot
