Find a planning application, understand ELCC’s involvement and find the appropriate route for an environmental concern.
Find an application
- Search East Lothian planning applications for Council application records, documents and decisions.
- Energy Consents Unit applications for applications handled by the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit.
- Planning appeals and inquiry records for cases on the Scottish Government’s appeals and inquiry website.
Use the application reference where you have it. Check the relevant official record for the current stage and any deadline.
Comment on a proposal
Read How to comment on a planning application. Send your comments to the authority handling that application, following its instructions and deadline. You can also contact ELCC to share local concerns. Contacting ELCC does not replace submitting your own comments to the authority.
ELCC’s involvement
Planning applications considered by ELCC records applications ELCC has considered, including recorded positions, representations and supporting documents. It is not a complete list of applications in the area. Records with missing information are identified. ELCC represents community views; it does not decide planning applications.
Report an environmental or construction concern
- Report an environmental event to SEPA — use SEPA’s guidance and reporting form for events within its remit. The form is not an emergency service.
- Council noise-nuisance guidance — information about the types of noise concern the Council investigates and how to contact it.
- Report a problem to East Lothian Council — routes for issues such as litter, fly-tipping and road defects, with a contact route if your issue is not listed.
- Planning enforcement and reporting a breach — Council guidance on suspected breaches of planning control.
- Report an energy-construction issue — the Energy Projects Partnership’s route for construction impacts. It is not for criminal or highly urgent incidents and does not replace a formal planning or regulatory report.
Local sites and liaison records
These pages bring together official operator links and dated local records. A meeting record describes what was discussed at that time; use the official source for the latest operating or application information.
