CONSULTATION East Lothian Council (ELC)’s draft Landscape Sensitivity Assessment (LSA) is now available to review and comment on.

Landscape Sensitivity Assessments (LSAs) are appraisals of how sensitive different landscapes would be to development types or land use changes. ‘LSAs can help guide and deliver positive changes to landscapes, for example steering wind farms to less sensitive locations.’ Nature.Scot

This LSA provides judgements on the sensitivity of the landscape within the East Lothian Council area to types of renewable energy developments such as wind energy, solar photovoltaic (PV) and, battery energy storage systems (BESS). Also certain other large-scale developments, such as substations and data centres.

The findings of this assessment will help the Council to guide developments to less sensitive parts of the landscape, and inform its next Local Development Plan.
