Carriageway resurfacing / repair works are planned by East Lothian Council on the C120 at Birnieknowes, near Bilsdean. Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 13th July 2026. It is expected to last for approximately three weeks, weather permitting. The works will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption.

The road will be closed to vehicular traffic from Monday to Friday during each phase of the works. Access to Birnieknowes will be maintained from either the north or south, depending on the location of the works. Emergency and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, and vehicular access will be reinstated out with working hours wherever practicable.

Refuse and recycling collections will be undertaken where practical. Residents have been asked to ensure their bins and boxes are presented by 7:00am on collection days.

Local concerns have been raised about some recent construction traffic traffic movements. SPEN have said this week that they will “check the signage and raise the existing slip road left turn requirement with all Contractors/Projects working at site at our daily co-ordination meeting.” They will also improve communication around agreed constructions routes.
