Scottish Water ‘Tankering’ Update Monday 27/07 – The road closure was put in place to allow Scottish Water tankers to access the network and supplement supplies to the Oldhamstocks area.
Due to higher than normal demand, water levels fell to low level. Bringing in additional water by tanker helped maintain supplies to customers and allowed the network to recover.
With levels now improving, the road closure is being lifted.”
Following the ELCC meeting on 27th July, questions from the community were put to Scottish Water. How necessary it was to the close the road for Tankering and about the length of time for the closure?
“The road closure is necessary because the tankers need to stop on the road while discharging water into the network, and this would make it unsafe to keep the road open.
We [SW] “appreciate that this is inconvenient for local residents, and [have] raised these concerns with the Team Leader to ensure the impact on the community is understood and taken into account. Thanks for your patience and understanding.”
Emergency Utilities Works – Road closed Thursday 23rd until Sunday 26th July 2026, from ELC Traffic Order.
