Newlands Hill public inquiry: Gifford session, 12 October 2026

This event took place on 12 October 2026.

Update 15 October – Community Hearing from Monday 12th October available on YouTube, the DPEA channel with ELCC chair, Chris Bruce, speaking at 1:35 til 1hr:42mins.

“This week sees the Public Inquiry into the proposed Newlands Hill Energy Hub.  This is taking place in Gifford Village Hall.  The Community Hearing on Monday evening was so well attended that perhaps 30 folk were turned away as the fire regulations limit for the hall had been reached.

East Lammermuir was represented by several residents and the Chair of the Community Council.  The various hearings continue until Thursday, 15 October, concluding with a discussion about Planning Conditions to be imposed should the development be consented.

East Lammermuir CC neither supports or objects to the proposal as the survey carried out at the point the planning application was submitted (end of 2023) showed an exact 50:50 split in support or objection from local residents living in East Lammermuir.”
