We’ll bring together local news, community projects, upcoming meetings, funding opportunities and updates on the work happening to deliver our Local Place Plan. Please see the Link below to subscribe.
What’s happening with our Local Place Plan?

Since August, Sue’s been working with East Lammermuir Community Council, local groups and project partners to help turn the ideas in our 2024 Local Place Plan into practical action.
There’s already quite a lot happening!
- Warm Homes: Working with Lothian Heat CIC to explore ways of helping residents make their homes warmer and more energy efficient.
- Biodiversity: Supporting local work to restore hedgerows and improve our river catchments, with opportunities for residents to volunteer.
- Active Travel: Taking forward work on safer walking and cycling routes, including options for crossing the A1 near Torness.
- Community Transport: Exploring how local transport services could better meet residents’ needs, building on the earlier wee bus trial and a new transport modelling study.
I’ve also been working with local groups to bring these projects together, help residents get involved and make it easier to see what’s happening.

We’ve been updating the ELCC website so you can find out more about each of our four ambitions, see what’s happening now and discover opportunities to get involved.
We’ve also introduced interactive maps for Innerwick, Oldhamstocks, Spott and Stenton.
Unlike the original PDF maps, you can zoom in, switch information on and off, explore local paths and projects, and help us keep the maps accurate by suggesting corrections or additions.

Your ideas and involvement matter
The Local Place Plan came from ideas and priorities identified by residents. Making those ideas happen will depend on people continuing to share their knowledge, views and time.
You don’t need to join a steering group to contribute. You might attend an open meeting, volunteer for a local project, suggest an improvement or simply tell us what you think.
And that’s what we hope ELCC News will help with — keeping everyone informed and making it easier to take part.
