Warm Homes: £45,000 award supports home upgrade pilot

Work on East Lammermuir’s Warm Homes Project has continued behind the scenes, with a £45,000 grant secured from the NnG Community Benefit fund. The project aims to make homes warmer and cheaper to run through home energy assessments and exploring shared heating. Thank you for your patience as this work progresses.

Home Upgrade Plan pilot

The next step is a Home Upgrade Plan pilot with project partner Locohome CIC. It will offer professional, impartial and individualised advice on fabric and heating improvements.

Twelve homes in the Priority 1 area will take part in November and December. Afterwards, participating residents will help evaluate the pilot before decisions are made about what comes next. This takes time, but will help shape the project’s next steps.

Exploring shared heating

Funding has also been secured for two smaller settlements within the 1km priority area to explore whether shared heating systems could work for them and what the options might be. This is feasibility work, not a decision to install a system.

Learning with thermal images

In October, Ellen visited Innerwick Primary School to lead an assembly about using thermal images to show where homes lose heat. Some children also had a chance to try the thermal imaging camera.
