Branxton substation and the C121 near Innerwick
SP Energy Networks said it was reviewing detailed plans for road widening at the entrance to the new Branxton substation. Further surveys and assessment of clearance requirements were needed before decisions on retaining or removing trees and hedgerows. It said no vegetation works would be undertaken before 2027.
SP Energy Networks also said it remained committed to engaging with the Community Traffic and Transport Forum (CTTF) and would review future proposals with the group before planned works.

Crystal Rig IV replanting
The update reported that Crystal Rig IV wind farm was fully operational, while work on the public road and replanting alongside the access road remained to be completed.
Fred. Olsen Renewables said it had discussed replanting proposals with the council for several months and would continue meetings to finalise agreement. It hoped to begin planting trees and hedgerows in October; this was an anticipated timetable, not a confirmed planting date.

Hedgerow Officers — recruitment deadline passed
The advertised application deadline was Monday 21 September 2026 and has passed.
The original announcement advertised two part-time, fixed-term Hedgerow Officer roles with East Lothian Climate Action Network (ELCAN) for the winter: one focused on East Lammermuir and one on the rest of East Lothian.
The East Lammermuir role was funded by the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Farm Fund, part of East Lammermuir Community Benefit (external link — opens in a new tab), and linked to the Local Place Plan’s biodiversity ambition.
