New funding to support local community projects
Tell us what matters most in your area.

SP Energy Networks is building a new converter station near Oxwellmains and burying cables from there all the way past Innerwick, Crowhill, Blackcastle, Thornton Glen, Thornton, and Birnieknowes to Thorntonloch – read more about the project here: www.easterngreenlink1.co.uk

All of the works are in East Lammermuir.

1.To make sure that local people share the benefits of new energy projects, SPEN are providing a (slightly reduced) fund of £3.2M to support the four East Lammermuir Community Ambitions.
2. Additionally, and in recognition of the broader impact of the construction work, they will shortly be launching another Community Benefit Fund – this time covering a wider geographical area (West Barns, Dunbar, Cockburnspath and Cove, and East Lammermuir) at £800k.

But SPEN needs your help…
Before they open the broader £800K fund to applications from local organisations, they need to understand how you think this money should be spent. This will help them decide the sort of local projects that the money should support so it brings lasting community benefits.

Please share your ideas before late August by completing the postcard you will soon get through your door, and/or visiting survey.

After they have gathered everyone’s views, SPEN will agree the funding priorities for our area. The fund will then open for local groups to apply for grants. If you’re interested in applying for funding, please visit the website and leave your details. Your feedback is crucial to ensure the money delivers real improvements
– so get involved and help shape something great for your area!
